He was the son of Hersch Hecht and Chaja.
Married: Adele Schapira about 1891.
Emigration: He left Vienna Austria and arrived in America in 1938 with his daughter Rose and her 1st husband, William Reiss. His children decided to bring him to America after the Nazis made him scrub a sidewalk with a toothbrush. He waited so long to leave Nazi Austria because he had served in the Austrian army 3 times, once as a prison guard, and thought that he would be protected because of this. When he moved to America, he went to Temple everyday; he lived alone, spoke no English. He shopped for food by going to the store and pointing to what he wanted.
